Women in Tamil Nadu constitute half of the total population and played a vital role in shaping the economy of our nation. Over the ages Indian women have been culturally and negatively conditioned to consider themselves inferior to men. Women are expected to sacrifice, to be like candle or camphor, all sweetness and light losing or melting themselves in the service of the family. Her identity is fixed as a man's daughter and after marriage as a man's wife or child's mother. Keywords
